On September 12, 1952 a group of kids playing in Flatwoods WV saw a red light shoot across the nighttime sky. The light appeared to stop on a hilltop nearby. The kids ran home to tell their mother what they saw. In a panic of what it may be she called a friend who happened to be a WV National Guardsman. When the friend arrived they went to the hill where the children claim the light landed. Upon arriving they saw a 10 to 15 foot tall man in a metallic dress with red eyes and a spade shaped head standing in front of them. The creature moved closer to them and sprayed a mist that made them dizzy and hard of breathing. This creature was later named the Flatwoods Monster.
